Environmental Policy
Dryside Ltd. recognises that its operations impact upon the environment and endeavours to prevent pollution and ensure that any potential harmful effects are minimised where possible. As a professional company we aim to carry out our functions in an environmentally responsible manner. We are committed to considering and conserving the environment throughout the course of our activities. Our Environmental Policy is subject to continuous assessment, control, and improvement. The policy principals currently in operation are:-
- Meet the requirements of all relevant environmental legislations and Codes of Practice relating to our business.
- Promoting environmental awareness through training and communicating our environmental business objectives to all of our staff.
- Source materials from sustainable resources wherever this is practicable.
- Reducing energy, water, and fuel consumption where this is practicable.
- Reducing the amount of waste produced, and ensuring that all waste is disposed according to legislative requirements.
- Developing relationships with suppliers, customers, contractors, and relevant third parties to discuss and promote improvements in environmental performance.
- Formally review this policy on a regular basis.
To help achieve these principals we will, wherever practical and safe apply the following:-
Heating and Ventilation
- Carry out regular checks on thermostatic settings as overheating causes discomfort and wastes money.
- Check settings on time switches etc as heating an unoccupied building is wasteful.
- Close doors to minimise draughts and conserve heat.
Lighting
- Turn off lights when they are not needed.
Ancillary Equipment
- All Staff are instructed to switch off equipment that may safely be switched off when not in use.
- A “switch-off” policy is in operation whereby the last member of staff to leave is responsible for switching off shared equipment at the end of the day.
Vehicles
- Have company vehicles serviced regularly to save money and reduce exhaust emissions.
- Where possible schedule vehicle journeys in advance to minimise travel times and reduce costs.
- Employees using company vehicles are required to ensure the tyres are set at the correct pressure, check regularly and arrange for steering to be realigned if non-symmetrical tyre wear is noticed in order to reduce additional tyre and fuel usage.
Construction Sites
- We regard the protection of the environment to be as important as health and safety and fiscal matters.
- We will comply with the environmental requirements specified in health and safety plans and tender/contract documentation.
- We will, where possible, avoid, minimise, or mitigate significant environmental impacts due to our work activities.
Staff Suggestions
- Dryside Ltd encourages staff to make suggestions in relation to environmental matters.
- The company will consider all such suggestions made.
