Under-pavement Vault

An area beneath front steps and pavement is to be used as a meter cupboard/storage area as well as housing the delecate alarm management unit to the house. The area was subject to severe water ingress whenever it rained. The existing underpavement area was excavated, to improve the headroom with underpinning to the walls.We installed the cavity drain membrane system to the walls, floor, and ceiling, and finished the walls and ceilings with plyboarding to allow fitting of heavy items. A sump pump was installed in the underpavement area to discharge the ingressing water to the nearby drain. We used cavity drain membranes for this project due to the vibration caused by the heavy traffic on the nearby road, and to cope with the differing wall construction that would require expensive flexible joint systems if cementitious waterproofing was used.
